In cross-promotion with Porsche, Lyft teamed up with Will Smith to surprise unsuspecting Miami riders with a joy ride from their favorite star. We collaborated with Will’s company Westbrook and went on set to help the team make sure we had what we needed for the edit.

Story, pacing, and stuffing in as many jokes as possible became the key to going from 0 to 6 million+ viewers from Smith’s YouTube channel alone.

What if you booked a Lyft and the driver that showed up was one of your heroes in disguise? That’s the concept behind the award-winning viral series sensation Undercover Lyft. It was a perfect recipe for success, but the journey from concept to kudos took close collaboration with the creatives and client (as well as some editorial magic).

and that’s just the start

cutting for talent

There’s no one-size-fits recipe an edit.

With Undercover Lyft, we played to each new host’s strengths: Chance the Rapper’s charm, Alicia Keys delightful goofiness, Demi Lovato’s hilarious self-deprecating sense of humor.

Cutting for location

Every episode of Undercover Lyft was filmed in a different city and we wanted to make sure we gave the audience a feel for each unique locale along the way. Chicago. Denver. Atlanta. Miami. New York. Los Angeles. By utilizing b-roll, stock footage, and keying in on the personalities of the rider, we took viewers on a raucous road trip all over the country.

Check out some of our favorite extended cuts below.
